What Are Spider Veins?
Why Treat Spider Veins?
Improve Skin Appearance
Many people choose treatment to reduce the visibility of fine red, blue, or purple lines, resulting in healthier-looking skin.
Check for Underlying Issues
While often harmless, spider veins can sometimes be linked to deeper vein problems, which can be detected and addressed during assessment.
Prevent Worsening
Treating spider veins early can help prevent them from becoming more noticeable or developing into larger vein concerns over time.

How it works:
Microsclerotherapy is a focused procedure that targets specific veins. The process involves a few key steps:
1. The Injection
A medical professional uses a very fine needle to inject a low-concentration liquid solution, called a sclerosant, directly into the spider or reticular veins. A special visualization system is often used to ensure precision.
2. Vein Closure
The sclerosant acts on the inner lining of the vein, causing it to become irritated and stick together. This intentional reaction effectively seals the vein, and blood flow is redirected to other nearby, healthy vessels.
3. Natural Absorption
The body then begins a natural process of absorbing the closed-off vein, which over a period of time, causes the treated vessels to fade and become less visible.

What to Expect After the Procedure:
Recovery
Patients can generally resume their normal daily routine immediately.
Compression
To support the treated veins and promote optimal results, you will be advised to wear compression stockings for a period of 2 to 4 weeks.
Results
While a single session can make a difference, several sessions are often needed to address all visible veins.
Durability
A successfully treated vein will not reappear. However, microsclerotherapy does not prevent the development of new spider veins in the future.

What Causes Spider Veins?
Spider veins can develop when small blood vessels near the skin’s surface weaken and expand. The exact cause is not always clear, but several factors may contribute to their formation:
Heredity
A family history of spider veins or varicose veins can increase your likelihood of developing them.
Hormonal Changes
Fluctuations in hormone levels, such as during puberty, pregnancy, or menopause, may play a role.
Lifestyle
Professions that involve long periods of standing or sitting, as well as a sedentary lifestyle, can put additional pressure on the veins.
Age
As people age, the valves in their veins can weaken, which may lead to blood pooling in the vessels.
Other Factors
Sun exposure, certain injuries, and obesity may also be contributing factors.
